Colorado against the whole country

The one price published on the same basis for every state is KFF’s benchmark premium: the second-lowest-cost Silver plan for a 40-year-old, the plan premium tax credits are calculated against. In 2026 Colorado’s benchmark is $557 a month, which ranks 17th of 51 (1 is cheapest) and sits 10.9% below the national benchmark of $625. It was $463 in 2025, a change of +20.3%.

Open Enrollment 2027 in Colorado

Colorado runs its own marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado. Open Enrollment opens November 1, 2026. Connect for Health Colorado sets the closing date, and a plan picked by December 15 starts January 1.

Insurers’ average 2027 increase in Colorado is 13.4% (requested, weighted), 19th-highest of the 23 states I cover. Colorado’s Division of Insurance announced about 11%; the figure here weights each insurer by enrollment.

Cigna is leaving Colorado’s marketplace for 2027 (about 41,000 members). If your plan is from Cigna, choose your 2027 plan yourself rather than letting the marketplace pick one for you.

Colorado runs its own exchange

Colorado buys through Connect for Health Colorado rather than healthcare.gov (its own exchange since 2014), so it is not in the CMS landscape file that drives the plan-level comparisons for the other 15 states. Carriers were approved for an average +21.2% for 2026 against +28.4% requested.

Colorado runs a public-option-style standardized plan. Every carrier must offer “Colorado Option” versions alongside its own designs, with $0 copays for primary care, mental health visits, diabetic supplies and prenatal/postnatal care. That makes cross-carrier comparison unusually clean.

Colorado by occupation

Premiums do not change with your job, but whether you clear the 2026 subsidy cliff often does. Each page puts Colorado against the other states for that occupation.
